What’s your job title?
Senior Textile Designer

How long have you worked at Wallace Cotton?
Just over 5 ½ years.

What are your key tasks?
As one of two Senior Textiles Designers I co-manage the textile design process from start to finish. Working in collaboration with Zoe, I research, forecast homeware trends, and create designs to go across the wide range of home and garment products that we have at Wallace Cotton. I am also in charge of all the studio/web photography and colour matching the product so there is consistency between the studio and the seasonal location imagery.

What do you love about your job?
I love the people I get to work with and the variation within my role - no two days are the same. I really enjoy getting to be hands on in the ‘creating’ stage of the design process, whether it is water colour painting a fish or lino cutting a botanic print. It is so fulfilling seeing my designs come to life and how they are enjoyed out in the world.

What’s your job title?
Visual Merchandising Manager & Photography Stylist

How long have you worked at Wallace Cotton?
Over 6 years.

What are your key responsibilities?
My role includes retail interior design, product styling for photography, and in-store merchandising. Over the years, I’ve enjoyed designing and project managing our new store fit-outs across New Zealand and London, as well as creating distinctive pop-up displays for the UK’s seasonal gift fairs.

The role is incredibly varied—one day, I might be drafting layouts for a new store, sourcing furniture, or overseeing on-site fit-outs. The next, I could be selecting props and styling beautiful ranges on location for a photoshoot. Being part of the design team lets me help capture the unique mood and atmosphere of Wallace Cotton’s in-house designs and showcase them across our stores.

What do you love about your job?
The people I work with! Each day, I feel grateful to collaborate with so many talented individuals across all areas of the retail industry. Working closely with different departments at our Head Office, alongside our incredible Retail Teams, Wholesalers, Photographers, and skilled Shop Fitters, keeps every day dynamic and exciting. But the best part is interacting directly with our wonderful customers—they’re the reason behind everything I do!
