Opening a Wallace Cotton store, from concept to customer

In 2006 we opened our very first Wallace Cotton store. Now, 18 years later, we have 11 beautiful stores across New Zealand. Making the decision to open a new store takes many months of consideration, starting with meeting the needs of our customer base and of course, finding the perfect location. We carefully consider everything that contributes to the perfect location, from the local aesthetics aligning with our brand and other retail brands in the area to where our customers shop and customer parking. Once a new store location is secured, the design process begins for how the store will look and feel, making sure we deliver the full Wallace Cotton experience for our customers. Queenstown store ‘before’

We’ve had our eye on Queenstown as a store location for some time. We’re excited about opening another store in the South with Queenstown our second South Island store after Christchurch. However, finding the perfect place was key to moving forward. Location, location, location as the saying goes! After much searching and research, the opportunity arose for us to secure a fantastic location in the Remarkable Parks Town Centre retail complex. Now the transformation could begin!

Once the building is ‘handed over’ to us, it’s time to give our new location a lot of love. Our amazing in-house team supported by local sub-contractors get to work refurbishing the new store. The renovation may include structural changes along with the creation of spaces within the store footprint for the storage of stock, a staff kitchenette and customer fitting rooms. Painting, lighting, flooring and the store fit out with product shelving, merchandising surfaces and the store counter follow. The tech side needs to be set up with our point-of-sale systems for our retail staff and finally, all our beautiful products are delivered and styled on the shelves ready for our customers.

Ta da! After a huge team effort and many months of hard work behind the scenes, we have finished the renovation. Our beautiful new Queenstown store is open and ready for our customers. We’re thrilled with the transformation and are delighted to showcase our collections to local customers and visitors to the South alike. The store’s design encompasses our brand’s signature style with thoughtful and considered touches that relate to the local landscape and surrounds. Visiting Queenstown soon?
